LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Entergy Arkansas is preparing for this latest round of winter weather.

Sally Graham with Entergy said its crews are on high alert. "We're preparing for the possibility in certain areas of Arkansas and in our service territory of 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch of ice accumulation so there could be some outages related to that from ice on our wires to ice on a tree limbs," said Graham.

Graham said about 500 hundred outages were reported on Wednesday, and that's compared to 7,000 on Monday.

The majority of the outages are in Saline County, after a car hit a pole Wednesday morning.

Graham said that if you do lose power, turn the heat on your thermostat off. That makes it easier for crews to monitor voltage levels after they fix the issue.

Customers can download Entergy smartphone app to receive text alerts and keep track of outages.
