I-440 lanes to close for repairs

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Crews performing resurfacing work will require a lane closure next week on Interstate 440 in Little Rock, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The lane closure, near the Little Rock Port Industrial Park, will require the eastbound, outside lane to be closed Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2.  The lane closure will be in effect between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

Motorists should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones.

I-30 eastbound lane shut down until late Tuesday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The eastbound I-30 river bridge outside lane at the Broadway Exit is currently closed for a highway repair and will not be finished until about 6:30 Tuesday evening, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

A piece of steel was discovered sticking through the concrete. Crews had to cut the piece off and then patch the concrete roadway. There is no other cause for safety concerns.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Interest in electric vehicles continues to grow in the United States and in Arkansas the interest has led to a record number of entrants in the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas Electric Vehicle Rally.

More than 170 students from 12 schools are slated for the starting grid of the rally that is scheduled for Friday, May 6 at the Pulaski Tech – South Campus in Little Rock.

Students will compete in an exciting and challenging mix of competitions designed to test the teams’ and their vehicles’ abilities. The public is invited to attend the rally events, which begin at 9 a.m. There is no charge to attend the event.

“This contest has grown tremendously since our first rally in 2003,” said Rob Roedel, manager of corporate communications for the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas.
