Expect lane closures on I-430 in Little Rock

Expect lane closures on I-430 in Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK (AHTD) – Construction work will require lane closures on Interstate 430 in Little Rock, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be installing a precast barrier wall, hanging a temporary overhead sign on the Kanis Road overpass and restriping the lanes. The work is necessary so southbound traffic can be shifted slightly to give the contractor room to construct an extension of a 4th lane.

The work will reduce I-430 southbound traffic to one lane between the on-ramp at Hermitage Road and the on-ramp at Shackleford Road (Exit 5). Also, the I-430 southbound on-ramp at Hermitage Road will be closed. That traffic will be detoured to the Shackleford Road on-ramp.

The lane closures and detour will be Sunday, November 2nd, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.

Little Rock mayor announces fourth annual Car-Free Challenge

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Little Rock) – The City of Little Rock will celebrate its annual Mayor’s Car-Free Challenge next week. Now in its fourth year, this initiative motivates citizens to give up the use of their cars for a week. The challenge begins Monday, Oct. 13 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 19.

Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola shared his personal commitment to this program.

“I am challenging myself and all of our residents to not use their cars and, instead, to use alternative means of transportation,” said Stodola. “You can ride the bus, ride a bike, walk or catch a ride with a friend.”

This goal of this seven-day challenge is to raise awareness of the many alternative transportation options available to Little Rock residents that can benefit the community.
