Salvation Army hosts community Super Bowl party

The Salvation Army is hosting a community Super Bowl party this Sunday evening in the shelter dining room at 1111 West Markham in Little Rock. The event starts at 5:30 PM.

Bedford Camera & Video is donating the use of a large flat-screen TV, and Custom Satellite is donating the hook up of a temporary satellite connection for the event.

The Salvation Army will be providing hotdogs, burgers, and side dishes. Church at Rock Creek is also donating cheese dip and chips. Major Jim Taylor will give a half-time devotional.

The Theba Thing: Stepping out of my comfort zone, meeting new people and trying the things that have been on my mind and heart.

My dad had a horse when he was younger and shared sweet stories of their relationship, so I always wonder what it would be like to learn how to ride, because I have such an appreciation for those magnificent creatures.

One Sunday, I was out riding bicycles at Two Rivers Trail with my mom and we saw a beautiful sight coming towards us - a line of horses with riders.  Later, I noticed they were taking a lunch break and so I pedaled up to them, knowing here’s my chance to start the ball rolling on something that was on my mind.

Roller Derby bout to benefit Camp Quality

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Big Dam Rollers from Central Arkansas Roller Derby (CARD) battle the Mountain Gateway Sisterhood of Steel (SOS) from Poteau, Oklahoma, on January 14 at 7 pm at Little Rock SkateWorld.  Portions of the proceeds from this bout will benefit Camp Quality of Arkansas.  Admission to the game is $10 for adults; kids 10 and under are free.

Roller derby is currently the fastest growing sport on the planet.  Start your new year off large by watching some enormous hits.  These ladies might be moms, teachers, scientists, or the cute girl behind the counter by day, but by night they are colossal athletes.  Make friends with them January 14 by wearing teal because if Godzilla comes to town, you’ll want them on your team.

It’s a Central Arkansas Roller Derby showdown on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. at Little Rock Skate World in Southwest Little Rock.  Come watch the veterans of the Rock-n-Renegades battle the league’s fierce new team, the Big Dam Rollers.  This bout benefits the Arkansas Food Bank.  Admission is only $5 with 2 non-perishable food items.  Tickets without a food item are $10 for adults. Kids 10 and under are admitted free.
