Hillcrest Merchants Association hosting scavenger hunt

Little Rock, Ark. (HMA) - The Hillcrest Merchants Association has their “hearts” in the right place.  Where is that place?  Hidden in Hillcrest, 22 hearts are waiting to be found. 

The Hillcrest Merchants Association is having a scavenger hunt for hearts.  The hunt is beginning, Tuesday, January 28th, and ending February 12th. Twenty-two Hillcrest merchants will have hidden special hearts in their businesses.  There are cards explaining where the businesses are located. 

When you find the heart you list the business that you found the heart and where it was hidden.  When you find ten hearts and fill out the card, you are eligible to win the HEART OF HILLCREST prize of over $2,000.00 in Gift cards, Services and goods.  See the following list:

American Culinary Federation benefits Thea Foundation through Governor's Culinary Challenge

The verdict is finally in, and the Thea Foundation is grateful to announce a donation of $6,637.77 from the American Culinary Federation (ACF), sponsor of the first annual Governor’s Culinary Challenge which took place during the federation’s central regional four-day conference this past spring.  Pre-conference, the ACF’s central region members selected Thea as the beneficiary of this exciting new fundraiser held on Monday, April 29, 2013, at the Capital Hotel.

The Governor’s Culinary Challenge exhibited gourmet bites from the likes of celebrated chefs, including Mark Abernathy, Gilbert Alaquinez, Joel Antunes, Peter Brave, Stephen Burrow, Brian Deloney, Donnie Ferneau, Jason Knapp, Capi Peck, and Lee Richardson.  Governor and First Lady Beebe were in attendance, as well as other local celebrities such as Mike Ross, Christina Muñoz, and Chris Olsen.

Chili's hosts statewide fundraiser to help rebuild Goodwill in Searcy

WHAT: Chili's Grill & Bar locations in Arkansas are banding together to raise funds for the Goodwill in Searcy that burned down in March. The donations will go toward rebuilding Goodwill, so the organization can continue to assist those in need and provide jobs in the Searcy community. Throughout the evening Wednesday, June 26, 2013 Chili’s will donate 10 percent of food, beverage and To Go sales to help support this cause.

Tip a Cop” Benefiting Special Olympics at NLR and LR Texas Roadhouse Locations

North Little Rock, Ark. – On May 15, from 5 PM to 9 PM, the Battle of the Badges “Tip a Cop” will take place at the North Little Rock and Little Rock Texas Roadhouse locations.  Members of the North Little Rock and Little Rock Police Departments will be waiting tables at the Texas Roadhouse in their respective cities to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Arkansas.  Each agency is looking to raise the most money for Special Olympics Arkansas and to have bragging rights as to which agency has the most community support.

The true winner of this “friendly competition” will be Special Olympics Arkansas as 100% of the proceeds will go directly to help support and provide year round training to the 14,000 Special Olympic athletes in the state of Arkansas that participate in 16 different sports and Olympic style competitions.

The Governor’s Culinary Challenge, a part of the Arkansas Culinary Federation's Central Region Conference, is proud to support the efforts of the Thea Foundation with a special event that promises to be one of the culinary highlights of the year. Proceeds raised from the Governor’s Culinary Challenge will benefit the Thea Foundation Scholarship Program, which in its history has made available more than 2.2 million dollars to Arkansas high school seniors seeking a higher education.
