Author discusses "guerilla diplomacy"

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Daryl Copeland will discuss his book, “Guerrilla Diplomacy: Rethinking International Relations,” an analysis of the linkages between diplomacy, security and international relations in the globalization era.

Copeland is an analyst, author and educator specializing in diplomacy, international policy, global issues and public management. He is adjunct professor of international studies and a senior fellow at the University of Toronto's Munk Centre, and in 2009 was appointed as a research fellow at the University of Southern California's Center on Public Diplomacy.

The lecture is Monday, February 28, at noon in the Clinton Library Sturgis Hall. A book signing is set to follow.

"Young Guns" seek to help young local politicians

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Newly-elected Saline County Justice of the Peace and University of Arkansas at Little Rock college student Justin Meeks has teamed up with University of Central Arkansas student and Little Rock native Caleb Lites to form the Arkansas Young Guns (AYG PAC), a new political action committee whose purpose is to help other young conservatives get elected in the state.

“We feel that young people have a vested interest in current political issues such as entitlements and government spending and that there are young potential candidates out there who would bring valuable input to those conversations if elected,” said Meeks, who will serve as the organization’s President and CEO.

Their goal is to help raise money for conservative candidates 18-30 years old in order to help ease the financial cost of campaigning.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Josh Gottheimer is co-author of a new book titled, "Power in Words: The Stories Behind Barack Obama's Speeches, From the State House to the White House," a history and analysis of President Barack Obama's most important pre-presidential speeches.

A lawyer and former communications strategist for Ford Motor Co., Gottheimer was a speechwriter for President Bill Clinton and currently serves as senior counselor to Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski.
