LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Trojans will face Middle Tennessee in the championship game for the third time in four years.

"That is what you want in the finals," said head coach Joe Foley. "We both proved ourselves by winning our divisions.   "Everyone expects UALR and Middle to play in great games like this. I know the crowd gets excited. It makes a great atmosphere."

Freshman Taylor Gault led the team in points with 19, while senior Marian Kursh added 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Senior Britteni Williams recorded a team-high of 13 rebounds in the win.

FAU won the tip and opened with back-to-back jumpers, before the Trojans scored on a free throw by Gault and a layup by Kursh. After a FAU layup, a jumper by Kursh sparked a 7-0 run including a three-pointer by Ford for the 10-6 UALR lead with 12:07 until the half.

After another Owl basket, the Trojans recorded a 6-2 run with points from Kursh, Ford, and Gault to take the team's greatest lead of 16-10 at the 9:08 mark.

Both teams exchanged three-pointers, before Kiera Clark scored on a layup for UALR. FAU answered back with back-to-back jumpers by Teri Stamps to narrow the Trojans lead to 21-17.

After a jumper by Gault for UALR, the Owls knocked a free throw and then a three-pointer to cut the Trojans lead to 23-21 at the 1:35 mark.

In the remaining 45 seconds, Gault scored a jumper and a fast break layup off a steal to score the Trojans' first field goal in four minutes and give UALR the 27-21 half-time lead.

The Trojans opened the second half spreading the team's lead to ten on points from Kursh and Gault, before a three-point play by Stamps brought the score to 31-23 in UALR's favor with 16:22 remaining.

Over the next five minutes, UALR held the Owls to just a jumper while scoring 13 points including four from Gault and Taylor Ford for the 44-27 advantage at the 10:44 mark.

FAU scored the team's first field goal in five minutes on a layup by Vontrice Dennis, before the Trojans outscored the Owls six to five to maintain the 50-32 edge with 8:25 on the clock.

In the remaining 7:47, the Trojans held the Owls to free throws and one field goal as UALR scored nine points and secured a spot in the Trojans fourth-straight championship finals.
