LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – On Monday and Tuesday, the Salvation Army is distributing gifts to their Angel Tree recipients.

Nearly 1,000 low-income Central Arkansas families will pick up their children’s toys and clothes before Christmas this Friday.

“Extremely personalized. What you went and bought for that child is put right into their family box and made sure everything is appropriate and signed off on so that every child is taken care of in a personal way,” said Major DeeAnn Glick with the Salvation Army.

In cases like recipient Rockelle, a mother of 5, she says if it weren’t for the Angel Tree program, her children wouldn't have the best Christmas holiday.

"It mean a lot then to see my kids face on Christmas and my oldest sometime he cry he be sometime, but my youngest they be oh my goodness, they love this time of year," said Rockelle

The Angel Tree operates in conjunction with The Salvation Army's largest fundraising event, the Red Kettle Campaign.

So far they're still $45,000 short of this year’s goal.
