Habitat for Humanity volunteers raise the roof

MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) – A Maumelle Family got some help on Saturday in getting a new home.

Habitat for Humanity organized volunteers from CHI St. Vincent and the Air Force to put trusses on a home being built for Monique Reneau and her family.

This part of putting up a house has an easy way and a hard way, and for volunteers sometimes the hard way is the fun way.

“We're raising trusses and as you can see it can be a lot of fun. You can hire a crane to do this or you can get a bunch of good people to come out and help you and put it up with rope,” said Bill Plunkett with Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas.

Reneau is a single mother of two, and in addition to helping build the house, Habitat for Humanity helps families like hers secure zero-interest loans for the mortgage.
