New, exciting changes to Little Rock Film Festival
News

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Movie goers, makers, and fans will be heading to central Arkansas in the coming days for the Little Rock Film Festival. Some changes in store for the growing festival.

Growing is the key word here. The festival brings in thousands and it's only in its seventh year. That growth is sparking a few changes to make it bigger and better for the crowd.

Travis Mosler spent the past year working on his film Diamond John. He says, "It's about the story of a man who discovered diamonds in Arkansas in 1906."

Mosler tapped into resources at UCA for help. He says, "There's a lot of blood sweat and tears that go into film making and here in Arkansas it's a lot about collaboration."

This is one of the many films being showcased at the Little Rock Film Festival. The film festival may only be in year seven for Little Rock but it's already making some senior changes.

Organizer Craig Renaud says, "A filmmaker friendly festival, that was one of our goals from the very beginning."

And one way they are achieving that goal is by making the festival which stretches from Little Rock to North Little Rock entirely walkable. Renaud wants film makers to be able to walk out of their hotel and walk to the next showing.

Also new this year is the festival is partnering with The Rep which will be one of the main screens along with the Argenta Community Theatre in North Little Rock.
Other places you can catch films are the Arkansas Historic Museum and Heifer International. Renaud says, "We're partnering with the downtown partnership in Little Rock we are going to have food trucks across from the rep, with music and food and places to hang out."

It's these changes are bringing a new energy that has film makers like Mosler ready to showcase their final cut.

Another new addition is a party on the Friday night of the festival on the Junction Bridge. Renaud says the party is all about connecting Little Rock and North Little Rock.

Also, congratulations in order. Movie Maker magazine just named the Little Rock Film Festival as one of the top 25 festival in the country.

The festival will show about 80 films throughout the event. Check out the Film & Event guide for all the featured films.
