LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV)-- The weekend is almost upon us! THV 11 has complied a list of five things to do in Arkansas with the family!
#1. PopUp Main Street: It's not a festival, but Friday and Saturday's event on South Main Street wil be festive, with music, food and vendors Its main purpose is to test an idea: What if South Main Street was altered from a four-lane to a two-lane, divided by a landscaped median and bookended with bike lines? You can join in on the fun from 12th St. to 15th St. from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
#2. Santa Claus in Arkansas: There are just 46 days until Christmas! Santa will arrive to take his seat at Park Plaza Mall and McCain Mall on Saturday. He'll be visiting with boys and girls for free through Christmas Eve. Photo packages are also available at both locations!
#3. The Color Run: The popular race is coming to Little Rock! This event is the largest and fastest growing 5k in the world promoting health, happiness and charity. With no winners or official times, Color Runners go from wearing white clothing to being covered in color. Check it out from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Little Rock's RiverMarket. There is still time to sign up! Solo runners/walkers are $55. A 4+ team of runners/walkers is $50 per person.
#4. Veterans Day: The holiday is Sunday and military personnel & their families can enjoy free admission at the Clinton Presidential Library. This the center's way of honoring and saying thank you for their sacrifice and service to our nation.
The museum includes replicas of the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room. Permanent exhibits utilize documents, photographs, videos and interactive stations.
#5. Crystal Bridges Museum: It's already been a year since the museum first opened in Bentonville. They will celebrate their anniversary on Sunday. General admission is sponsored by Wal-mart, so there is no cost to view the museum's permanent collection.
- If you do have the time to visit northwest Arkansas, it's also a perfect time to see all the fall foliage. Check out the Arkansas Parks and Tourism website to learn more.
