ARKANSAS RIVER (KTHV) -- The Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza Fishing Tournament is the largest amateur bass fishing tournament in the state.  It covers 300 miles of eligible fishing from Fort Smith to Dumas along the entire length of the Arkansas River within the state’s borders. The angler who lands the largest fish during the course of the tournament will take home the $50,000 grand prize, with other cash prizes available throughout the weekend.

An Arkansas Game and Fish boat will be available to take media out on the river at the North Little Rock location on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will be releasing 100,000 fingerlings back into the river. Each pool will receive 20,000 to distribute.

WHEN: Friday, June 24 - Sunday, June 26

Fishing begins each day at 6 a.m. with hourly weigh-ins. Final weigh-in each day is at 1 p.m.
Awards Ceremony:  4 p.m. Sunday, June 26
Verizon Ramp, North Shore Riverfront Park on the Arkansas River, North Little Rock

Five weigh-in locations:
                        Pool 1 - Clear Creek Park near Fort Smith
                        Pool 2 – Dardanelle State Park on the Russellville side
                        Pool 3 – North Little Rock marina and boat dock under I-30
                        Pool 4 – Regional Park in Pine Bluff
                        Pool 5 – Pendleton Bridge area near Dumas
The Big Bass Bonanza Fishing Tournament is sponsored by Academy Sports & Outdoors, the Arkansas Hospitality Association, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Hardees of Arkansas, the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau, Pine Bluff Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Russellville Advertising and Promotion Commission.
