LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- West Little Rock neighbors say their concerns over a new apartment complex near their homes are falling on deaf ears.

The three way intersection where Kanis Road meets Cooper Orbit will be home to apartments that will house more than 300 people and cars, an addition to the already 11,000 vehicles that travel through the corridor each day.

"[The problems are] all combined," said Jane Bristow, who has lived near the intersection for 12 years. "[The intersection is] a nuisance, a safety concern. The property value of our home- it certainly takes away from that."

City officials say the land was already zoned as neighborhood family and commercial, making it suitable for the complex.

"We thought it was a reasonable request," said Little Rock Planning and Development director Tony Bozynski. "Through the plan development process you're not just looking at the use of the property, but how it's being developed through the site plan. [The developers] set aside ample area to help with the livability of the project, there was adequate parking on site."

The project is still years from starting, but the city board of directors approved the construction in July.

The city will meet on September 18th to consider two more apartment developments in the area as well.
