Landscape award nominations begin

Landscape award nominations begin

When: Today, May 13, 2011 – 11:00 a.m.

Where: Baldwin and Shell – 1000 West Capitol Street

The Little Rock City Beautiful Commission announces its nomination kickoff for the 32nd annual Landscape Awards. These are given to businesses that go beyond the City’s requirements to develop or improve their landscaping.

While its easy to see landscaping as merely icing on the cake, research has shown that its impact has much more depth.  Landscaping can increase property and resale values, lower energy costs, improve business and sales, and create positive perceptions for areas.

Past winners of the CBC’s Landscape Awards will be on hand today to discuss what this award meant to them.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – UALR economics and finance students Kate Hendrix of Benton, Nathalia Garay of Bogota, Colombia, and Brooke Dodd of Hot Springs are heading to Omaha, Neb., April 30 to attend the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders meeting and hear Warren Buffet, considered one of the most successful investors in the world.

This is the fifth year of a partnership between UALR’s College of Business and Delta Trust and Bank that allows three top economics and finance students a unique opportunity with an independent study that culminates with attending the stockholders’ meeting and hearing Buffett’s address.

Following completion of an investment analysis course, the three students applied and were interviewed to participate in the intense study under the direction of Finance Professor Larry Holland.

Delta Trust executives have provided a comprehensive overview of financial services for UALR students.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Consider this: Where would you turn for advice on assisting a loved one affected by Alzheimer's? How will your basic needs be met should your child become ill with cancer? What kinds of chemicals and additives are in your food -- and how is it affecting your health?

Do you know where to go to even get these answers?

Earlier this spring I was able to attend an event at War Memorial Stadium called "Little Rock Serves," which is sponsored by Create Little Rock, an arm of the Little Rock Chamber.
