Downtown Network Training set for March 20 in Pine Bluff

LITTLE ROCK, AR—Main Street Arkansas will host a training session for Arkansas Downtown Network towns, featuring Randy Wilson of Community Design Solutions, in Pine Bluff on Tuesday, March 20, Main Street Arkansas Director Cary Tyson announced today. Main Street Arkansas is a program area of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program.

The training will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center at 211 W. Third St. in Pine Bluff. It will feature discussions on principles of good design, design as an agent for community change, mid-century alterations to historic buildings, and a “Walk and Learn” tour around downtown. (March 1, 2012) – March Madness-level excitement came early for several high school students today as the winners of the 2nd annual Youth Entrepreneur Showcase 2.0 (Y.E.S. 2.0) were announced.  Y.E.S. 2.0 is a statewide business plan competition for ninth to twelfth grade students that is sponsored by the Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation (AEAF), an affiliate of the Arkansas Capital CorporationToday’s winners were notified at noon via live stream from the Arkansas Capital Corporation headquarters near Little Rock’s River Market.  They included:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Jan. 30, 2012) ­ The Peabody Little Rock will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its grand opening tomorrow and announced plans today to offer a new Dining Rewards Club for the community.

"We have been a proud part of the Little Rock community for a decade now, and we are grateful to the individuals and organizations who played a part in our success," said Monte Hansen, general manager of the hotel.  "The Dining Rewards Club offered through Capriccio Grill is a small way we can say 'thank you' to the community for its support over the last 10 years."

In celebration of its 10th anniversary year, The Peabody Little Rock will give away dinner for two in Capriccio Grill through a drawing held on the 10th of every month beginning February 2012 and running through January 2013.  Guests who enroll in the Dining Rewards Club in Capriccio Grill throughout the anniversary year will have a chance to win.

ARA: Home sales increase 16 percent

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arkansas REALTORS® Association  announced that September home sales were 10.28 percent higher than September 2010 while the average price of a home in Arkansas increased by less than 1 percent.  For the quarter (July - September), home sales increased 16 percent with the average price of a home in Arkansas decreasing almost 4 percent.

"As the Arkansas REALTORS® Association has been predicting, Arkansas home sales continue to be quite strong," said Amy Glover Bryant, Director of Communications for the Association.  "In the third quarter, Arkansas REALTORS® sold a total of 6,671 homes versus 5,719 in the third quarter of 2010.  Average prices during that time period were $143,944 compared to the third quarter of 2010 when the average price of a home in Arkansas was $149,430.  Affordability and strong mortgage rates are certainly helping to drive this year's improved numbers.  We do exp
