Small business 'tweetup' networking event set for Sept. 5

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A million accounts are added to Twitter every day, but even as the social network's popularity surges, it can't replace face-to-face business networking.

At noon Wednesday, Sept. 5, the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will host a tweetup at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce downtown. The tweetup is an opportunity for the area's small business people already on Twitter - or those considering joining Twitter - to meet, mingle and tweet in person.

The free networking event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Defined by its 140-character messages known as tweets, Twitter has more than a million active users in the U.S. Businesses new to Twitter or those interested in getting started on Twitter can learn the basics at the "Social Media Setup: Twitter" seminar preceding the tweetup.
