LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –The Little Rock Film Festival is pleased to announce the Fifth Annual Little Rock Film Festival to be held on June 1, 2011 – June 5, 2011.

The Little Rock Film Festival is an annual film and cultural event held each year in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, based in the thriving historic River Market District.  Back for its fifth year, the festival showcases the best in narrative, documentary and short films from local Arkansas filmmakers, as well as films from all around the world.  Every film in competition at the festival makes its Arkansas premiere during the festival, with many films being regional, national or world premieres as well.

The festival has hosted more than 350 films from over three dozen countries and brings together notable actors, directors, and producers from all around the globe. They also conduct daily educational workshops for all ages that consist of panels with industry leaders.

Upcoming events at Mosaic Templars museum

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center of Little Rock is all about sharing Arkansas history through the arts.

The "Southern Journeys" exhibit, which runs through August 2011, is one way they're doing this. But according to Quantia Fletcher, director of education at the museum, there's more than one way to get into the act.

I caught up with "Key" at the museum earlier this week. Hear what she had to say about the Mosaic Templars' upcoming events.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Pulaski County Youth Services, under the direction of Mr. Charles Mobley, is eager to announce its second annual six-week music program which will begin Monday, June 20, 2011. The Our Club Music Program will be located at Hall High School and has established partnerships with the Little Rock School District, SAIED Music Company, Potluck Food Rescue, and consultant Sterling Ingram.

Family-friendly concert Saturday in NLR on the river!

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — Considered by many to be the founding fathers of Southern Rock, Arkansas' own music pioneers Black Oak Arkansas will come to Central Arkansas this weekend for a one-night-only performance as they headline a new all-day family concert benefit event called A Dandy Day at the Park.   A Dandy Day at the Park will take place on Saturday, May 7, on the north banks of the Arkansas River at Riverfront Park in North Little Rock and will feature seven top rock, blues and folk bands from all around Arkansas, Memphis and Texas.
The concert event, the first in a new planned series this summer by Blue Collar Concerts, is meant to provide an affordable day of high-quality entertainment for families who are watching their wallets.

Cantrell Gallery will be hosting the 20th Annual Mid-Southern Watercolorists Open Membership Exhibit.  There will be a reception celebrating the opening of the show Sunday, June 5, 2011, from 2-4:00 in the afternoon.  In the past, around 50 – 70 members of this regional organization have participated.  Many of the featured artists will be present at the reception.  Refreshments will be served.  The public is invited.  Admission is free.

This exhibit is open to all members of the Mid-Southern Watercolorists.  It is an excellent opportunity for all those who enjoy watercolor to view a huge variety of subjects and styles in this beloved medium.  Also, it's a great chance for all the members of this wonderful organization to participate.

The aim of the Mid-Southern Watercolorists is to elevate the stature of watercolor and educate the public to the significance of watercolor as an important, creative permanent painting medium.&nbsp

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The thirteenth annual Cinco de Mayo celebration will be held Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the River Market from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Cinco de Mayo is sponsored by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 750 Little Rock.

Cinco de Mayo 2011 will be bigger and better than ever! The event will span both River Market pavilions and attract thousands of Latinos and residents from all over the state.

The fiesta features typical homemade foods from Mexico and Central America, arts and crafts exhibits, and games and entertainment for children. Many services and product information will be available. The event includes special activities for the entire family as well as services and product information.

Continuous live entertainment includes the Ballet Folclórico Reflejos de México, the Mariachi “América,” followed by the Band F-5 and the Chicos Style from Dallas.
