Wold renowned Kinsey Collection Comes to MTCC

Join MTCC for the opening of our largest exhibit to date, African American Treasures from the Kinsey Collection. This once in a life changing exhibit, that is currently on display at Epcot Center at Walt Disney World will open at MTCC on Friday, April 8, at 6PM. The exhibit contains rare, one of a kind artifacts that will be displayed in Arkansas for the first time ever. These artifacts work to dispel the myth of absence and demonstrate that African American history is American history.

The opening will feature a presentation by the Kinseys, refreshments, and live entertainment provided by Rodney Block and the Real Music Lovers.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - If you are feeling the luck of the Irish on Thursday then downtown Hot Springs is where you need to be. 

On March 17, four-leaf clovers and anything green will cover the streets of Hot Springs, Ark. This is all in celebration for St. Patrick's Day.

The city is known for having the world's shortest parade celebrating this irish holiday. Their schedule of events leading up to the historic parade, include:

4:30 p.m.- Blarney Stone Kissing Contest at Arkansas Blarney Stone

5:30 p.m. - Festivities kick off with special guests at Bridge Street

6:25 p.m. - Measuring of the parade route at Bridge Street

6:30 p.m. - World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade at Bridge Street

Following the parade will be a free concert by The Bacon Brothers.

Freedom from smoking support groups at UAMS

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Anyone ready to quit smoking is invited to join one of two support groups starting in March at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

The Freedom from Smoking evening session will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. for seven Tuesdays beginning March 15 in the UAMS College of Public Health, Room 3202.

The daytime session will meet from 3-4:30 p.m. for seven Wednesdays beginning March 16 at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute’s Patient Support Pavilion.

Pulaski Tech presents 'An Evening with Graham Gordy'

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Actor and playwright Graham Gordy, who is also the co-creator and executive producer of the new Cinemax drama "Quarry," will be the guest speaker at Pulaski Technical College's Big Rock on the Map series on March 10.

The event will include film clips from Gordy's well-known work such as The Love Guru (2008), War Eagle, Arkansas (2007), and Spanola Pepper Sauce Company (2010). Gordy's short films have won awards at the South by Southwest festivals, Austin Film Festival, Nashville Festival and Slamdance. He also was a writer for the Sundance Series "Rectify."

The Big Rock on the Map event will begin at 6 p.m. in the college's Center for Humanities and Arts Theater located at 3000 West Scenic Drive in North Little Rock.

This event is free and open to the public.

PTC Anthropology Club to host documentary screening

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Pulaski Technical College's Anthropology Club invites the community to watch a screening of the documentary "The Anthropologist" at noon on Friday, Feb. 19. 

The documentary is a follow-up to Seth Kramer, Daniel Miller, and Jeremy Newberger's Sundance Film Festival hit "The Linguist." The Anthropologist chronicles the lives of pioneer Margaret Mead and environmental anthropologist Susie Crate as told through the view of their respective daughters.

The 81-minute documentary premiered at the DOC NYC Film Festival in November and is currently screening at film festivals around the world.

The Little Rock screening will be in the Celebrity Chef Theater at the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute located at 13000 Interstate 30.

The screening is free and open to the public.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Join those at the Mosaic Templar on February 12 at 6 p.m., for the opening reception for "I Walked on Water to My Homeland" featuring works by Delita Martin.

"I Walked on Water to My Homeland" is a series of mixed media works that explore the power of the narrative impulse. These works capture oral traditions that are firmly based in factual events and bring them to life using layers of various printmaking, drawing, sewing, collage and printing techniques.
