NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Pulaski Technical College Foundation will participate in #GivingTuesdayAR on Dec. 1, a day that focuses on holiday giving rather than holiday spending.

At PTC, more than 60 percent of students rely on financial aid through scholarships, grants and loans, while 90 percent work full- or part-time. With a somewhat small allocation from the state, tuition and fees must generate almost half of Pulaski Tech’s operating costs, whereas most colleges’ student fees account for a mere 20 percent of their budgets.

“Giving Tuesday Arkansas is an opportunity for Arkansans to take part in a day of giving to charitable organizations within their own state,” said Shannon Boshears, executive director of the PTC Foundation. “Your donation to PTC will go to fund and develop programs, furnish and equip buildings, and secure financial aid for students. Your gift will create access to a high quality education that promotes student learning, to enable individuals to develop to their fullest potential and to support the economic development of Arkansas.”

The Giving Tuesday movement will be acknowledged by organizations across the state with the help and support of the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance. While Black Friday promotes holiday shopping and Cyber Monday encourages online sales, Giving Tuesday puts the spotlight on opportunities for charitable giving during the holiday season.

Donations will be accepted during the days leading up to Dec. 1. Any size donation, whether big or small, will be accepted. All donations will be used to benefit the students of Pulaski Technical College.
