Arkansan produces film to raise awareness on suicide

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - An Arkansan has found her own way to raise awareness of the effect of suicide in the state. 

Summer Moody is the founder of a new film "This Too Shall Pass." As the writer of the movie, she hopes to bring alive the seriousness of suicide and depression that plagues individuals across the U.S. Summer's goal with the film is to shed light on the truth of suicide and the effect it has on those left behind as well as the healing process. 

Tom Logan, award-winning feature film director with the Director's Guild of America, has signed on to be the director of the film.

CONWAY — Disney In Concert: Magical Music from the Movies will make a stop at the University of Central Arkansas’s Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall on April 16 to bring to an end the 2015-16 season of UCA Public Appearances. 

The 7:30 p.m. show is already sold out. 

Four Broadway stars will sing Disney songs, accompanied by the Conway Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Israel Getzov, CSO's music director and a UCA faculty member. The actors are Terron Brooks, Erica Dorfler, Juliana Hansen and Aaron Phillips. 

"Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies is the perfect end-note for the wonderful season we've had at Reynolds in 2015 and 2016," said Julia Dossett Morgan, the director of Marketing and Finance at Reynolds Performance Hall.

Re-Fashion Bash returns to Benton

BENTON, Ark. - Recycle Saline is hosting its second annual Re-Fashion Bash “Where Green is the New Black” Saturday, May 7th. 

Re-Fashion Bash is an upbeat recycling fashion show highlighting Saline County students on the runway.  They will walk the runway wearing trash that has been turned into treasure, showing off their fashion in hopes of winning top prize money.

The Benton Event Center doors will open at 5 p.m. and the show will start at 6 p.m.

There will be first ($500), second ($250), and third ($100) place prizes awarded to the top designers.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.00. All the money raised from Re-Fashion Bash goes to the YEA! Team (Youth Environmental Ambassadors) program sponsored by Recycle Saline.

Josh Radnor to lecture at UCA on April 4

CONWAY—Actor, director and writer Josh Radnor will speak at the University of Central Arkansas’s Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. 

The visit is part of UCA Public Appearance’s Distinguished Lecture Series.

Radnor is perhaps best known for his role as Ted Mosby, the central character on CBS’s Emmy-nominated comedy “How I Met Your Mother,” but after the show ended its nine-season run in March 2014, he quickly established that his talents extend beyond acting.  He has written, directed and starred in two feature films, “Happythankyoumoreplease” and “Liberal Arts,” which both debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. 

Radnor also starred on Broadway in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “Disgraced.”
